Approximations of Large Population Epidemic Models
نویسنده
چکیده
The large population asymptotics of a spatial epidemic model is studied through the representation of the process as a projection of a higher dimensional Poisson processes. The density process (I n (t)) of infected individuals at time t converges to a determinis-tic process (I(t)). Moreover, there exists a Gaussian process V such that p n(I n ? I) converges to V in the sense of Schwarz distributions. The process I n (t) can be used to model focus expansion experiments in phytopathology.

متن کاملHermite Polynomial Closure Approximations for Stochastic Epidemic Models
Moment closure approximations have been developed to provide simple approximations to non-linear stochastic models. They can give tremendous insight into the qualitative and quantitative behavior of stochastic models. They are also important because they can be used to mimic behavior observed in simulation studies, or in some cases, validate the dynamics of rigorous limit theorems. In most stoc...
متن کاملA review on West African Ebola epidemic dynamics models
Background and aims: The world is threatened by disease outbreak that reaches a public health emergency of international concern, studies to inform public and agencies for effective containment strategy are necessary. Several studies provided vital information of the dynamics and control of Ebola epidemic outbreak in West Africa. Methodologies and techniques in those researches...
متن کاملEndemic persistence or disease extinction: The effect of separation into sub-communities.
Consider an infectious disease which is endemic in a population divided into several large sub-communities that interact. Our aim is to understand how the time to extinction is affected by the level of interaction between communities. We present two approximations of the expected time to extinction in a population consisting of a small number of large sub-communities. These approximations are d...
متن کاملStiffeners Mechanical Effect Analysis by Numerical Coupling
Given any structure, we seek to find the solution of mechanical problem as precisely and efficiently as possible. Within this condition, the BEM is robust and promising development, standing out in the analysis of cases with occurrence of large stress gradients, as in problems of fracture mechanics. Moreover, in BEM the modeling of infinite means is performed naturally, without the use of appro...
